Endurleysing

Ben Harris Fractious melodies, skittering spider-legged piano pieces, somehow both hollowed out yet warmly, pregnantly soulful. I can't help but admire albums that somehow cohese such paradoxical elements into something relatable. The kind of record that forces me to resort to descriptors such as "achingly sober yet inventively playful" or "palpably sad yet relentlessly optimistic". Don't overlook this multifaceted gem. Favorite track: Hringlandaháttur - Live.

about

Endurleysing is a compilation of several live perfomances by Asalaus from the summer of 2021, in addition to three studio recordings. Asalaus started in the summer of 2020 as a summer project supported by Hitt húsið, an Icelandic culture centre for young people. The project consisted of writing music and performing it in various places in Reykjavík, Iceland's capital city. The project received support again in the summer of 2021, and Endurleysing is the result of that.

Endurleysing is a continuation of Asaleysing, another (semi) live album which was released in August 2020 and recieved a nomination for the Kraumur awards later that year.
