about

An excerpt from the installation Voð.

A few sound units are distributed around the space, creating a sound environment. These sound units consist of loops of music recorded beforehand and then transferred onto reel-to-reel tape machines, cassette players, and loop pedals. The units play together randomly inside the space, constantly generating new arrangements. As a result, each listener will have a unique experience of the piece.

Each sound unit stores a recording of a single instrument, and the instruments used in the installation are the cello, bassoon, violin, percussion, and electronics. For each instrument, there is a graphic score that is on show by the instrument's corresponding sound unit. In this way, the music is made visible, and the listener can compare the score to what they hear.

The installation's constant generation of new combinations of sound can be compared to life in general. The installation creates infinite "nows," and it is impossible to retrieve the moments that constantly pass by.
